LIOEHC collaborates with other groups to conduct studies on the relationship between the workplace, the environment and health problems. We were a NIOSH selected site for evaluation of World Trade Center related health problems. Current projects with NYCOSH focus on indoor air quality and safe patient handling. Our current clinical and research interests include work-related hypertension, Lyme disease, asbestos exposure, occupational asthma, building related health problems, Workers' compensation and World Trade Center related illness. Dr. Cocchiarella is a nationally recognized expert in impairment and disability assessment, given that she has co-authored and edited several books, including the AMA Guide to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 5th edition.
